THERE IS A FAMINE IN THE LAND

THERE IS A FAMINE IN THE LAND

Amos 8:11-12 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—
not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it. NIV

Pastor Greg Young stated that there is a famine in the land for the Word of God.  He also said that only 17% of people who say they are Christians have a Biblical world view.  What is a Biblical world view?

1. God is the Creator of the world and rules this universe! (Genesis 1:1)

2. The Bible is God’s Word for mankind and is completely accurate including matters of life and its origin. (2 Timothy 3:16)

3. Because of God and His Word, absolute moral truth exists! (Psalms 102:25–27; Malachi 3:6)

4. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the grave three days later! (1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 1 John 4:9–10)

5. Satan is a real being (not symbolic) and seeks to defeat God’s plan for man! (1 Peter 5:8)

6. Salvation is obtained solely by individual faith in Christ’s work on the Cross and cannot be earned! (Ephesians 2:8–9) (What Is a Biblical Worldview? Looking at the World from God's Viewpoint By Dr. Mike Norris | January 06, 2011)

How many churches still preach from the Word of God?  Has Christianity been hijacked by the culture into becoming “cultural Christianity?”  Is the Church supposed to frame the culture or has the culture framed the Church?  It appears to me that some, not all, Church organizations have become woke and, because of pressure from the culture, have compromised the teachings of the Bible in order to accommodate the voices out there that seem to be screaming louder.

Do you remember the acronym—B.I.B.L.E.---Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth?

It’s really about living in the Kingdom of God.  As believers, we live in the world but we are not a part of the world or the world system.  We are citizens of heaven and as such we perceive life in another dimension.  We are subjects of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Jesus is our example of how to live in the world but not be a part of it.

John 18:36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” NIV

I John 4:5-6 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. NIV

I John 5:19  We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. NIV

Between 10% and 13% of Christians read the Bible on a regular basis.  Imagine if a medical doctor, an architect or engineer said that they only study, 10-13% of their curriculum on a regular basis.  Would you trust that doctor or architect who only kept up with a small portion of his studies?

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written based on Biblical principles.  Society wants to solve problems that can only be solved by these principles.  We need to elect God’s Holy Word back into the culture because solving problems, such as the rise in crime, is only going to be solved by an Awakening, a Revival to change people’s hearts and then many societal problems will be solved but only by the Hand of Almighty God!!  So Church, rise up!!

Is there a famine in the land?  It appears to me that there is and it is not from lack of food but from the lack of the Word of God which is the food from heaven to sustain us, nurture us and guide us to become the children of God living in His Kingdom---The Kingdom of God.  So let us truly hunger for the Word of God so that we may be filled to overflowing!!
