Many will turn. They will turn, and they will look to you. So be My hands. Be My feet. Be the mouthpieces I need you to be to bring more people into My Kingdom. Stand your ground. Stand your ground.                               YOU CAN’T KEEP GOD ON A SHELF

How many of us remember the “elf on a shelf”?  He was supposed to be watching, in this case, the children to see if they were naughty or nice.  Do you think that the elf stayed there very long before someone either stole, trashed, or covered it up so that the “all seeing elf” could not see what they were doing?

I think that it is the same with God.  Do we put Him on a shelf?  Is He only there when we want to use Him to answer our prayers?  Do we compartmentalize God to the extent that we rush to go to Chruch, put our “time” in and then almost run over somebody to get out of the church parking lot?  Actually I know someone who actually got a ticket in a church parking lot for driving too fast!!

Do we forget about God the minute that we leave the church parking lot?  Are we thinking about the game we are going to watch that day and keep looking at our watch?  

Putting God on the shelf, in my opinion, means that He is really not a part of our lives. We put Him “on the shelf” after church services, after other services.  We put Him on the shelf when we go about our activities during the day when we do what we want to do not really focusing on God’s will. 

It is so easy because of our human nature to not include God.  The truth of the matter is that God is always with us even when we turn away from Him by our own actions or our sins.  He is always reaching out to us.  He desires to have a personal relationship with us.

The following is called “A Letter from a Friend”:

I just had to write to tell you how much I love you and care for you.  Yesterday I saw you walking and laughing with your friends; I hoped that soon you’d want Me to walk along with you, too.  So, I painted you a sunset to close your day and whispered a cool breeze to refresh you.  I waited---you never called---I just kept on loving you.

As I watched you fall asleep last night, I wanted so much to touch you.  I spilled moonlight onto your face---trickling down your cheeks as so many tears have.  You didn’t even think of Me.  I wanted so much to comfort you.

The next day I exploded a brilliant sunrise into glorious morning for you.  But you woke up late and rushed off---you didn’t even notice.  My sky became cloudy and My tears were the rain.

I love you, oh, if you’d listen.  I really love you.  I try to say it in the quiet of the green meadows and in the blue sky. The wind whispers My love throughout the treetops and spills it into the vibrant colors of all the flowers.  I shout it to you in the thunder of the great waterfalls and compose love songs for birds to sing for you.  I warm you with the clothing of My sunshine and perfume the air with natures' sweet scent.  My love for you is deeper than any ocean and greater than any need in your heart.  If you’d only realize how I care.

My Father sends His love.  I want you to meet Him---He cares, too.  Fathers are just that way.  So, please, call on Me soon.  No matter how long it takes, I’ll wait---because I love you.

Brother Lawrence, who was a 17^th century lay brother who lived in France during the Thirty Years War in which he had fought.  The following are a series of quotes from Brother Lawrence:

The time of business does not differ with me from the time of prayer; and in the noise and clatter of my kitchen, while several persons are at the same time calling for different things, I possess God in as great tranquility as if I were on my knees. 

He does not ask much of us, merely a thought of Him from time to time, a little act of adoration, sometimes to ask for His grace, sometimes to offer Him your sufferings, at other times to thank Him for the graces, past and present, He has bestowed on you, in the midst of your troubles to take solace in Him as often as you can. Lift up your heart to Him during your meals and in company; the least little remembrance will always be the most pleasing to Him. One need not cry out very loudly; He is nearer to us than we think.

There's no greater lifestyle and no greater happiness than that of having a continual conversation with God.

It is possible for us to live in the very sense of the Lord's presence under even the most difficult circumstances. If you and I are going to enjoy the peace of paradise during this life we must become accustomed to a familiar, humble, and very affectionate conversation with the Lord Jesus.

The world appears very little to a soul that contemplates the greatness of God.

Loving God and loving one's neighbor are really the same thing.

Don’t keep God on the shelf.  Carry Him wherever you are, whatever you are doing and He will fill you with His presence as Brother Lawrence invited Him to every area of his life.  Doing so, you will find true peace because it is His peace that He offers us each day.

Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.  But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” NIV

Daniel 3:24-25 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego trusted God in the fire.   Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”  He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” NIV

There are those who say that the fourth man in the fire was the pre-incarnate Son of God---Jesus Christ.  Yes Jesus is always with us in the fire and in the storms of life.  He will never, never leave us or forsake us as long as we call on Him and trust Him.

Mark 4:39-40 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.  He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” NIV

Jesus is the quiet in our storms.  We need to have faith that He will still the storm but just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, He will also be with us in the fire and even though we may not always be delivered from the fire, He will help us get through the fire or the storm.

                                                                WHAT IS REST?

What is rest?  According to the dictionary it means, “The act or state of ceasing from work, activity, or motion; quiet.”  It also means, “peace, ease or refreshment.”

The following are scriptures about rest:

And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.  Genesis 2:3

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. ~Psalm 62:1-2

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. ~Psalm 91:1

Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. ~Psalm 116:7

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil    people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.  Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”  Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)

On August 10, 2016 the Lord gave me the following words:  “Child of mine, rehearsing the future is futile.  Rely and rest and be content in Me moment by moment.  Refresh your spirit in My Word each day.  Rest in Me.  Live in Me.  Be filled with My peace and directions from My Word and My presence will precede you.  Watch, pray, and rest in Me for I am the author and finisher of Your faith. (Hebrews 12:2)  Watch, trust, rest for in so doing My Shekinah Glory will be made manifest in you and through you.  Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!”

Some have said that when we work, God rests.  When we rest (in God) God works!!  Why did God rest after He had created everything?  I believe because He was finished and He wanted to enjoy His creation.  After a painter paints a masterpiece, would he or she not stop and admire the beautiful painting?

When we completely surrender to God, He will do what only He can do.  Yes, we need to do our part for the most part depending on the need, but when we rest in God, He takes over and does it His way.  I can’t tell you how many times I have prayed to the Lord about something and I have said these words, “Lord, I rest in You,” and the problem many times worked out without any intervention on my part.  Sometimes it was a small problem and sometimes it was a much bigger problem.

 So don’t be restless when you encounter a problem.  If you rest, less, in Him, then you won’t find true rest.  In other words, resting in God means that you trust Him completely and you will find peace and strength to carry any burden that you are carrying.  Remember the scripture,
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”   Matthew 11:30 (KJV)

Dear Father,

This world seems to move faster and faster
And I’m trying to keep up.
But God, in the whirlwind,
Instead I get caught up.
Like an unbeatable force it pulls me in
But I know eventually I cannot win.
I must learn to rest in your perfect peace
And though good, let all endeavors cease.
Oh that my feet would mimic your pace.
So your joy would be set on my face.
Help me, Jesus, to slow down when you would.

Father, I pray that You fill me with Your presence in this moment as I put aside worries, anxieties, and striving and pick up Your rest. I pray that You would grant me Your peace as I stop wondering about the how’s and why’s of life. Help me to remain focused solely on Your goodness. I seek after You and You alone. I surrender my heart and soul to You. I surrender my plans and my goals and my aspirations and lay them at the altar. I choose to seek those things that You place before me. I choose to seek Your kingdom. I know that You will provide everything I need to do Your will. Amen

                                                                 IT’S NOT OVER

Have you ever heard the expression, “It’s not over until it’s over”?  I have been hearing this expression from so many people.  It is true.  So many times, even in our own lives when things seem so dark, we give up, lose hope and “throw in the towel” only to find out that the answer to our prayer was just around the corner and all we needed to do was just rest and wait on God. 

In the Book of Exodus after the Israelites were freed, by the hand of God, Moses led them out of Egypt.  When the Israelites came to the Red Sea they became terrified because the Egyptian army was coming after them and they had nowhere to escape except through the Red Sea. They complained to Moses but Moses told them not to fear and have faith in God because Almighty God would fight for them.  The Lord told Moses to stretch out his rod and the sea parted giving them safe passage and after they were safe on the other side Moses raised his rod again and the Egyptian army drowned.

With a small stone David defeated Goliath when all seemed lost.  Everyone was afraid of the giant who was at least 9 feet tall.  It seemed like everything would be lost but David put his faith and trust in God and David killed the giant.  The Philistines ran when they saw their hero, Goliath dead but David stood up to something that seemed impossible.

King Darius was the ruler over Babylon.  Daniel served the God of Israel and was not going to bow down to other gods, so he continued to pray three times to God Almighty and because of this he was thrown in the lion’s den.  Even though everything seemed hopeless, Daniel trusted God and when asked by the King if his God had rescued him, he said that an angel of the Lord shut the mouths of the lions.  After this King Darius issued a decree that all people should reverence and fear the God of Daniel.

King Nebuchadnezzar, another King of Babylon, required all to bow down and worship a golden image and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to do that so they were put into the fiery furnace.  They trusted in God to deliver them from the fire.  Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”  Daniel 3:24-25 (NIV)    Many people believed that this was Jesus who is the Son of God!  God did not fail them.  He was there with them just when it appeared that all hope was gone.

During the time of Christ a man named Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus.   Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.)  So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”  When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”  Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.  So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, ⁷ and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.” John 11:1-7 (NIV)

 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.  I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”

 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”  The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.

Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”  John 11:40-44 (NIV)

When Jesus died on the cross I’m sure the demons rejoiced but little did they realize that it was NOT OVER!!!!  Jesus died on the cross to take away our sins and rose on the third day and conquered death to give us eternal life with Him forever and ever!!

The following is an example of one of seventeen miraculous deliverances from defeat in many battles that the Israeli army fought.

 “During the Independence War, Ira Rappaport’s Israeli platoon fought the Jordanian military for Mount Zion and found themselves surrounded by hundreds with only twenty five bullets left. With a sad end seemingly near, the men agreed to go out with a bang and readied themselves to make good use of every last bullet. Then, just when the small platoon were about to face the inevitable, something incredible happened. The Jordanian soldiers dropped their weapons and began suddenly running away, screaming “ABRAHAM!” Several years later, Ira would come across a familiar face with an unlikely answer, as to what had actually occurred on that miraculous day. This was a former Jordanian soldier who had fought against Ira on Mount Zion. According to him, his army all witnessed a vision of Abraham defending the Jews in the sky above the Israeli platoon and had no choice, but to drop their weapons.” (Israeli Defense Forces: 17 Miraculous Israeli Military Victories May 29, 2015)

No, it is not over until God says that it is over.  So don’t get disappointed.  You need to keep the faith.  When you have done all you can do, then God will show up as only He can!  God is on the throne and His authority and power will never end.  His sovereign will, will be accomplished no matter what happens.  It’s not over until God says it’s over!!

                                                 DAYS OF DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

THIS NATION WILL BE PLUNGED INTO A DARKNESS

“This Nation will be plunged into a darkness it has never known or felt. This great darkness will bring the greatest light and awakening ever experienced in this Nation or the world. This darkness will change this Nation's course, and it will change the hearts of millions back to Me. 

This darkness is for the judgment against your rulers who have blasphemed Me by their acts, sexual perversion, unjust laws, thievery, and godless ruling and reigning. They have put this Nation on a course of destruction and devastation. This darkness and violent shaking will destroy their power and change everything happening in this great country. 

Evil will no longer be in control. The heart of this Nation will completely turn back to Me. Much confusion is coming to those who refuse to believe and much calamity and devastation to those who are against Me. Much death is coming to the ones who brought much death to the world. 

My children, the hour for the greatest shaking this Nation has ever experienced is here. This political, civil, and severe economic and natural shaking is to break you away from them and save this Nation from total annihilation. 

You are about to see things your eyes and minds will not totally understand. But remember, I gave you these Words and warnings to make you aware and assure you that this judgment is not for you, but rather, for the ones who put My Nation on the course of death. 

I am the life that will bring this country back to where it should have been all along. So, My children, brace your hearts and get your minds fixed on Me. Do not fear or dread what is about to take place. That which is coming will bring a freedom you have never known before and a life you have never lived. 

So, stand strong now. Do not give in, back up, or back off from My Words. This Nation will rise. My Glory will be seen, and a great restoration will take place. I am in control, not your enemies, and the world is about to see that this is true. Great Glory and a great outpouring of My Spirit on all flesh is about to take place. 

So, receive what I have planned for you and see the total demise I have planned for your enemies. Celebrate! Your time of restoration has come, saith the Lord your Redeemer” (www.jgminternational.org )
