KEEP CHRISTMAS WITH YOU

What does Christmas mean to you?  We know that it is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ but should we go beyond that and keep Christmas with us all year?  Yes, Jesus should be not only in our hearts each and every day but be the focus of our attention each and every day.

I remember when I was very little my mother would bake sugar cookies as was a tradition in our family and we would leave extra cookies for Santa Claus.  My mother would even tell my sister and I that Santa even came and gave us each a kiss during the night.  One day I realized that Santa Claus was not real and that Mom and Dad were the “true” Santa.  This happened when I overheard my mother talking to someone on the phone about a bicycle that was going to be given to one of my brothers.

As I got older, I remember looking out at the dark sky on Christmas Eve and just feeling the “magic” of the moment in anticipation of Christmas day.  As the years passed I remember after opening presents, there was a feeling of emptiness inside after the big event had somehow lost its excitement. 

Christmas throughout the years has changed for me from the focus on Santa Claus; to the anticipation of what I was going to receive; to the celebration of Jesus each day.  I know that Jesus came as a gift to us.  He is the gift for the world.  He is a gift that needs to be opened each and every day.  I do celebrate Christmas with family and friends but I keep my focus on the One Who came to give us life more abundantly each and every day.  We exchange gifts and I am sure that God is pleased with that but do we fail to remember that it is His birthday and we should be celebrating His birth at this time?  Sometimes I think that we get so caught up in material things and the secular notion of Christmas, that it becomes Christ-less.  It’s like throwing a birthday party and forgetting whose birthday it is!

I remember a special song that the Muppets use to sing on Sesame Street that talks about keeping Christmas with you all through the year.  It is a sentiment that I think that we should think about and celebrate each day because without Christ’s birth, the world would be in darkness.  He is the light of the world so let us celebrate His coming to us each and every day!

Am I walking by sight, or am I walking by faith? Do I trust God or don't I? Yes, My children, ask yourselves these questions because it will destroy your enemies' lies over you, the power he has had over you. Stop believing their lies and your eyes. I will say that again. Stop believing their lies and your eyes, because the things you see are not really how they appear. This is the time, My children, that you need to walk by faith and not by sight. I received the following words from the Lord which I believe are also for the Body of Christ:

“Child of mine I say to you this day to be jubilant and be triumphant for I your God wish to do an amazing wonder that is about to take place in this world of Mine; a wonder that you will not only be amazed at but be jubilant with glee for I your Lord am about to bring a revival so amazing on the earth that no one book will be able to contain.  You will look to the left.  You will look to the right at the wonder that will envelop the earth.  So rejoice.  Be glad.  Be jubilant I say to you today.  It is a day of rejoicing and I extend my arms of love to My world that I love so much.  Be at peace.  Be ecstatic.  Again I say to you to be jubilant.  Be jubilant.  Be jubilant.  Amen and Amen!”

EXODUS 14:1-4

Then the Lord said to Moses, ² “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. ³ Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites did this.  NIV

EXODUS 14:13-14

¹³ Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. ¹⁴ The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  NIV

2 CHRONICLES 20:15-17

¹⁵ He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. ¹⁶ Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. ¹⁷ You will not have to fight this battle. 2 Chronicles 7:14

¹⁴ if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  NIV

2 Samuel 22:1

22 David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.  NIV

It seems to me that in every area of our lives and what we see unfolding in our country and all over the world, it is very easy to get discouraged and become afraid and lose all hope----BUT GOD-----sent His only begotten Son to save us.  JOHN 3:16 ¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  NIV

God knows what is going on in our lives.  He also is very aware of what is going on in the world.  He will not forsake us or abandon us.  In every situation that we face, God has the answer and He can deliver us from any enemy, disease or hardship that we are going through so whenever you think that all hope is lost just remember-------BUT GOD!
